Sàsdāvosh Se (/ˈsəsdəˑ/ /voʃ/ [ribbon; tape] [rugged]) is a subtropical Town located in Rehveth Hold, Bātbi̊lāg Provence, within the Tauranian United Provinces.

The name Sàsdāvosh Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Sàsdāvosh Se was founded by Cú̄kīnḱ Vú̄rméch 'Shanti Dazzle' Vú̄shīs Sēs Vúchī̋ Jenne, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Sàsdāvosh Se has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Sàsdāvosh Se receives an average of 267 cm/y (105 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Sàsdāvosh Se covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4334 m (14219 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Sàsdāvosh Se was founded durring the late 16th century in winter of the year 1562, by Cú̄kīnḱ Vú̄rméch 'Shanti Dazzle' Vú̄shīs Sēs Vúchī̋ Jenne. The establishment of Sàsdāvosh Se suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Sàsdāvosh Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Sàsdāvosh Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Sàsdāvosh Se is buildings are arranged within a network of restrictive gravel streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. Sàsdāvosh Se's would-be-castle fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A look around Sàsdāvosh Se is like a look into a broken heart which long ago fell to corruption. There is no planning, no organization. Everyone here clearly goes about their own thing with little thought to anyone around them who isn’t selling something they need… unless of course, they would be an easy target for some robbery. The town has truly fallen to evil.

Sàsdāvosh Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Sàsdāvosh Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Sàsdāvosh Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Sàsdāvosh Se has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Sàsdāvosh Se's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is recurring in Sàsdāvosh Se.

The Giant Centipede near Sàsdāvosh Se are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Sàsdāvosh Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves drinking to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 3 via chanting.

Sàsdāvosh Se is cursed with recurrent spells of some troublesome disease. The affliction isn’t so fatal as to make living there impossible, but it adds suffering and expense to local lives. The plague might be the product of an ancient curse, the results of long lost toxic remains, or an unavoidable byproduct of whatever industry or purpose justifies the city. It’s probably not overly contagious, but visitors may be in some peril all the same.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century heavy spring rains following an uncharacteristically dry year and a minor earthquake resulted in the collapse of the west side of Cursed Fates Valley. the landslide struck Sàsdāvosh Se, and devastated the community. 106 people, 179 livestock, and 32 buildings were lost to the calamity. The disaster is recorded in history as Cursed Fates's Fall.
